Bobby Jon Drinkard is a native of Troy, Alabama. Drinkard attended Troy University, where he graduated in May 2003, with a Bachelors of Science in Journalism/Public Relations. While at Troy University, Drinkard was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, and The SPJ Club (Society of Professional Journalists). Upon graduation from Troy, Bobby Jon moved to Los Angeles, to pursue a career in entertainment.
In Nov. 2003, Bobby Jon represented the state of Alabama by being named one of Cosmopolitan Magazine’s 50 Most Eligible Bachelor’s across the United States. While in Los Angeles, Bobby Jon walked the runway and modeled for clients such as Calvin Klein, Kenneth Cole, and Ralph Lauren. But his claim to fame came in the CBS hit reality television show “Survivor.” Drinkard appeared as a contestant for season 10, “Survivor: Palau,” and was asked back for the 11th installment of the show “Survivor: Guatemala.” Bobby Jon is one of only two contestants in the show’s history to be asked back for a second season.
Drinkard has appeared on news segments such as: Entertainment Tonight, Entertainment Weekly, Good Morning America, The E Channel, The TV Guide Channel, The OLN Network, ESPN, VH-1, and the CBS Early Show. You can also catch a cameo of Bobby Jon in the December 2006 Warner Brothers film “We Are… Marshall.”
While Bobby Jon’s career has taken him all over the world, he now calls Prattville, Alabama home. Before calling Prattville home, Bobby Jon has made stops in Los Angeles, Milan, Italy, and Miami.
Drinkard is proud to be involved in numerous foundations and charities. For his charitable work he has been presented the “Key to the City” to four cities in the United States. Bobby Jon is a member of Henderson Baptist Church, in Henderson, Alabama.
Along with Bobby Jon’s weekly television gig of hosting and co-producing AIDT’s On The Job, which focuses on often overlooked jobs and educational opportunities in Alabama, Drinkard is also a Project Manager for AIDT’s television and film crew based training program EMPACT (Entertainment Media Production and Crew Training www.empactalabama.org).
