According to the Bureau of Labor statistics, the employment of plumbers and those in related fields is expected to grow 10 percent over the next 8 years, which means that the job opportunities are expected to be very good over the same time period. And let’s face it, when the water doesn’t fill the tub, or the toilet gets clogged, most of us are going to call a plumber to fix the problem.
The program at Lawson State is one of several around Alabama in the Community College system. We dropped in on instructor Steven Taylor, to check out Lawson States plumbing program.

In July Governor Bob Riley announced a new state of the art training center in North Alabama that would lead the nation in Robotics training. The need for a trained workforce specializing in Robotics maintenance has increased significantly over the past few years. As manufacturers have made the switch to a more automated process, the need for people to maintain those robots has increased as well.
