The McWhorter School of Building Science at Auburn (BSCI) established in 1947, is the second oldest construction education program in the United States. The program has more than 3,000 graduates located worldwide, including many who lead the construction industry in the Southeast U.S. The school is currently made up of 18 full-time faculty members, approximately 600 undergraduate students and 20 graduate students. On The Job went on down to Auburn to find out more about the ‘structure’ of the Building Science program.

You really have to look no further than the pyramids of ancient Egypt to see one of the most famous examples of masonry. Their massive stones were laid according to a plan and have withstood the test of time. And just like with the pyramids structures built by a good brick mason even on a smaller scale can withstand all that time and Mother Nature has to offer. Masonry today is considered as much a form of art as it is a skilled trade. In fact with the right mason and plans, amazing things can happen.
