Show 120 – MBUSI – Maintenance Apprenticeship

/ MBUSI – Maintenance Apprenticeship Program /

When Mercedes-Benz announced in September 1993, that they would build their automotive plant in Tuscaloosa, it changed forever the economic development landscape of Alabama. After two plant expansions and with more than 22,000 direct and indirect jobs, MBUSI has grown to become Alabama’s largest exporter of goods. But the company is not just focused on building cars, they’re also focused on building the community through the MAP program. The MAP (Maintenance Apprenticeship Program) program at Mercedes Benz, in conjunction with AIDT(Alabama Industrial Development Training), is geared towards building students with the industrial skills that are necessary to thrive in today’s workforce.

Apprenticeship students learn production systems; automotive systems, including body, paint and assembly shop skills and processes; and, Continuous Improvement and Quality skills. “This is an amazing program that not only prepares a student for career longevity, but the ceiling of the success rate in this program is extremely high,” ON THE JOB host Bobby Jon Drinkard stated.
